Courtney Rosborough
Child Life Specialist
About Courtney
As a certified Child Life Specialist, I specialize in paediatric psychosocial care and emotional safety. In both healthcare and community settings, certified Child Life Specialists help infants, children, youth and families cope with the stress and uncertainty of acute and chronic illness, new diagnoses, injury, trauma, disability, loss and bereavement. Certified Child Life Specialists provide developmentally and psychologically appropriate interventions including therapeutic play, preparation for procedures, and education to reduce fear, anxiety, and pain.
As a Therapeutic Play Practitioner, my training in sandtray, play-based and expressive activities allows me to create safe environments for children to learn about themselves and their relationships with the world around them. I also focus on emotional regulation and challenging emotional behaviours for children with a multitude of diagnoses (ADHD, ODD, GAD, etc.) from pre school to junior high age.
My ultimate goal is to decrease stress by increasing understanding and coping for children and their families.
