Making Therapy Accessible

Financial Support

& Funding

At Alberta Therapy Co., we believe that cost should never be a barrier to quality care. That’s why we support multiple therapy funding options, including government programs, private insurance, and charitable grants.

Whether you're accessing speech therapy, occupational therapy, or other specialized services, our team is here to guide you through the funding process.

  • Autism Canada Community Assistance Program (CAP)

The Autism Canada Community Assistance Program (CAP) offers financial support to autistic individuals, their families, and caregivers. This program helps cover the costs of psychological assessments, mental and physical health therapies, and other essential interventions not included in provincial health plans. Additionally, CAP provides funding for respite care, offering relief to both individuals on the spectrum and their caregivers while helping to ease the growing demand on the mental healthcare system.

  • Breaking Free Foundation

Breaking Free Foundation offers grants for trauma therapy in Alberta, covering various trauma-informed treatments such as psychology, EMDR, equine therapy, and art therapy. To qualify, therapists must be approved by Breaking Free. Eligible recipients will receive $750 toward their chosen trauma therapy.

  • Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD)

Families choosing our clinic must set up a Family Managed Contract (also known as private hire) with FSCD. This means the family oversees hiring services, supported by a clinical coordinator who manages the team, communicates with caseworkers, tracks deadlines, and handles documentation.

As an FSCD Business Partner, we can submit invoices directly with parent signatures at the start of each month.

If a family has FSCD funding approval, they should contact contracts@albertatherapyco.com to schedule a meeting with a Team Lead to discuss next steps and timelines.

  • Jordan's Principle

Jordan’s Principle is a human rights initiative established by the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (CHRT) to ensure First Nations children receive the government services they need without delays, denials, or gaps due to their identity. Named in honor of Jordan River Anderson from Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba, this principle helps remove barriers to essential care.

To apply for funding through Jordan’s Principle, families must provide:

Supporting documents from a medical, social, or health professional (such as an assessment report confirming diagnosis and need)

A letter of support from a qualified professional

    The child’s Band number

Names of professionals providing the requested services

A service quote from the provider

    The total estimated cost

Alternatively, families can submit a funding request for speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, or psychological evaluations, including a budget outlining recommended services and duration.

Once approved, we can bill Jordan’s Principle directly for covered services.

  • Non-Insured Health Benefits (NHIB)

The NIHB program provides coverage for essential health services for Indigenous clients with treaty status. This includes reimbursement for psychological counseling services provided by Registered Psychologists or Registered Social Workers.

In addition to counseling, NIHB also funds various medical equipment needs, including but not limited to:

    Wheelchairs and mobility aids

    Home safety equipment

Speech Generating Communication Devices (for individuals over age 12)

  • Private Health Insurance

We offer direct billing for families using private health insurance, provided the service is covered by their provider. To ensure a smooth process, we recommend discussing coverage details with our Family Care Team. If you're unsure about your plan’s benefits or limits, we encourage you to check with your insurance provider for clarification.
